published September 15, 2007
NORTHAMPTON - Arthur A. Messier II, 59, of 105 Pines
Edge Drive, died Thursday evening at the Fisher Home in
Amherst from complications of carcinoid cancer.
Born in Bristol, Conn. June 7, 1948, he was the son of
the late retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Albert C. "Clancy"
Messier and Simone (Turcotte) Messier.
He was educated in Panama, Puerto Rico, Middletown and
Newport, R.I. from elementary school through high
school. He received a bachelor's degree from Nasson
College, New Division and College of the Potomac, later
earning a master's degree from the University of Rhode
Island.
Arthur and his family moved to Northampton from New
Hampshire 15 years ago. He was the director of
information technology at the Wilbraham and Monson
Academy. Arthur was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament
Church in Northampton. He was an avid Red Sox fan and
loved reading, music and history. His friends referred
to him as "The Answer Man."
